Dynamic computing is, at its core, building a layer of abstraction between applications and the hardware that is required to run them. By using tools such as server virtualization, centralized collaborative storage, and management and scheduling software, we can architect solutions that are more robust, flexible, and available than traditional systems. The following diagram illustrates this dynamic computing model:

This architecture provides the ability to “right-size” the hardware resource to the application, allowing seamless failover to other resources in the event of a failure. It also enables customers to get higher utilization from their investment in infrastructure by applying any idle resources to applications, rather than having resources sitting in the silo created by an inflexible non-virtualized environment.
